NUSHS STUDENT COUNCIL 2008
The NUS High School Student Council comprises a dynamic group of individuals who are committed to bringing about positive change in the NUS High School campus. The NUSHS Student Council functions on a committee basis, with a target job scope assigned to each specific committee. These committees work within their job scopes on a day to day basis, ensuring that the Council runs smoothly and efficiently. To tackle specific projects or ideas the Council forms project committees that may comprise members from different committees. This satellite approach allows us to bring the excellence and specialization from each of our committees to the projects that we bring you.

The Executive Committee (EXCO) consists the President, Vice-President, Deputy Presidents and Advisors to the President. This panel charts the progress of the NUSHS Student Council and functions at the helm of the Council's activities
The role of the president is to set targets for the council and oversee the running of all council projects. The president will also help to guide the various committees in planning and execution of all events.
The role of the vice president is to assist the president in his/ her job as well as take charge of the implementation of internal discipline within council.
The role of the secretary is to handle agendas and minutes for all council meetings, EXCO meetings, Student Leader Forums, sessions with Management etc. He/She also takes charge of council contact list(s) while overseeing oversees the council notice board, hours of Community Involvement Programme (CIP) activities, and filing of council documents.
The role of a treasurer is to collect and manage the council fund (money collected from councillors), and any kind of fund collection within council. The treasurer also has to plan the budget for council events and manage the fund given for projects that council is in-charge of.

The Human Resource committee focuses on the training and upgrading of skills of Councillors. It also implements the in-house Council Evaluation Programme (ICE), used by Councillors to determine how they may further improve their leadership skills.

The role of the Internal Affairs committee is to take care of the council’s welfare as well as to ensure smooth execution of council duties. They are also in charge of allocating manpower for different events as well as the overall maintenance of the council room.

The role of committee is to be the Public Relations channel for the Student Council. This includes networking with other schools, external agencies, and other organizations. The basic jobs of the committee members include: sending out of invitations for our own council investiture, receiving mail from other councils regarding their investiture, and build a network of friendly relations with other schools or organization (e.g. Council exchange with Nan Hua).

The Student Initiative committee works with the student body to organize activities for the school and encourages the students to initiate activities which they think is beneficial to the student population. The committee aims to foster cooperation between students and the school by providing a convenient channel in which the students can contribute directly to the school.
